Carbon offsetting is a concept that aims to directly or indirectly absorb "greenhouse gases," including carbon dioxide, emitted in one location through human economic activities and daily life, by engaging in reduction activities such as tree planting, forest conservation, and clean energy projects.
At "LOVST TOKYO," we engage in "circular manufacturing" by upcycling discarded fruits and vegetables, but we currently emit a certain amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide) in our production process.
To achieve more sustainable manufacturing, we have also begun developing materials with lower CO2 emissions. However, in our search for immediate solutions, we decided to disclose the amount of CO2 emitted from our business activities.
We believe that by making our customers aware of the current situation, they will gain a deeper understanding of our future initiatives. As a first step towards carbon offsetting, we have launched a point system that allows donations to organizations engaged in tree-planting activities. LOVST TOKYO will work with our customers to reduce CO2 emissions.
WE RESPECT NEW LIFESTYLE
Decoupling is the concept of maintaining economic growth and convenience while also addressing environmental issues and reducing energy consumption.
For example, decoupling can be achieved through unprecedented energy-saving methods such as reusing and recycling resources or reforming industrial structures that consume large amounts of energy.
One of the reasons LOVST TOKYO proposes plant-based vegan leather is due to the impact of the livestock industry on global warming and the environmental burden of "animal leather" distributed as a byproduct.
Therefore, to make the current situation clearer and communicate it to more consumers, we will highlight the disparity in environmental impact between animal leather and plant-based vegan leather by comparing the two. At the same time, as part of our brand philosophy, we will respect the new lifestyle of "veganism."
