We at LOVST TOKYO visualize the CO2 (carbon dioxide) that is inevitably emitted during our product manufacturing process. Based on this, we aim to reduce the total amount of CO2 emitted by our business to zero, and even to a negative amount, through "greenhouse gas reduction activities."

Here, we report on our efforts and results for carbon offsetting* in 2023.

*Carbon offsetting is the idea of directly or indirectly absorbing greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, emitted in one place through human economic activities and daily life, by engaging in reduction activities such as tree planting, forest protection, and clean energy projects.

CO2 emissions from product manufacturing

LOVST TOKYO's CO2 emissions from product manufacturing in 2023 were 12,229kg.

If conventional leather (cowhide) had been used, 29,499kg of CO2 would have been emitted.

In other words, by using plant-derived "apple leather" as a material, we were able to reduce CO2 emissions by 17,270kg.

Achieving net-zero CO2 with the LT-SEED Program

With LOVST TOKYO's loyalty program, "LT-SEED," you can donate your accumulated points to organizations that conduct tree-planting activities.

Furthermore, any unused shopping points after one year are automatically donated.

Through this program, we were able to donate 76,760 yen last year.

Planted 76 cedar trees

The donations collected last year are equivalent to planting 76 cedar trees.

Considering that one cedar tree can reduce 302kg of CO2, we were able to achieve a CO2 reduction of 22,952kg in 2023.

*Calculated based on a 40-year-old cedar tree absorbing 302kg of CO2
  • 12,229kg (emissions during manufacturing) - 17,270kg (reduction compared to cowhide) - 22,952kg (reduction from tree planting) = -27,693kg

Thanks to all of our users, in 2023 we not only achieved our goal of "zeroing CO2 emissions through carbon offsetting" but ultimately managed to make a significant negative impact.

Thank you very much to everyone who shares our vision and provides such warm support!

In 2024, we will continue to aim for "zero CO2 emissions" and strive to be a more sustainable brand with a smaller environmental footprint.
